About Us

Villas in Snow

We are a residential architecture practice based in the Pacific Northwest, focused on designing modern homes shaped by clarity, simplicity, and connection to place. Our work is defined by clean lines, restrained palettes, and a deep respect for natural materials.

The Northwest’s climate and landscape guide our design philosophy. We create homes that welcome natural light, soften the gray days, and open seamlessly to the outdoors. Each project is an exploration of how architecture can elevate daily living—through thoughtful spatial flow, purposeful detailing, and a calm, cohesive aesthetic.

We partner with clients who value modern design and want a home that reflects both their lifestyle and the character of the region. From concept to construction, we approach every project with precision, transparency, and a commitment to design excellence.

A-Frame Architecture was founded by Scott LaBenz, AIA.

The name A-Frame Architecture derives from quintessential cabin in the woods, an A-Frame, providing both prospect and refuge with limited materials in a compact footprint.  An A-frame is a basic structure designed to bear a load in a lightweight economical manner.  We approach architecture design in a similar manner focusing on what is needed to meet the project requirements while providing a design that conveys both prospect and refuge.
